Hazelburn Distillery was established in 1796, originally located on Langrow Avenue. It obtained a new distilling license in 1825. Due to high demand, the distillery relocated to Milknow Road in 1845 and underwent significant expansion, becoming Campbeltown's largest distillery by both area and production volume. In 1920, Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky, worked at the distillery for several months, mastering the complete whisky-making process. Unlike most Scottish whisky distilleries, today's Hazelburn employs triple distillation, resulting in a spirit that is notably lighter and more delicate.
