Girvan is a pioneering Lowland grain whisky distillery established in 1963 in South Ayrshire, Scotland. Owned by independent family distillers William Grant & Sons, it was revolutionary for its time, built specifically for continuous grain whisky production using column stills (Coffey stills). Unlike traditional single malt distilleries, Girvan primarily produces grain whisky for premium blends, including Grant's and the botanical spirits for Hendrick's Gin. The distillery has positioned itself at the forefront of innovation, serving as a testing ground for AI-driven automation and smart production technologies in Scotch whisky manufacturing. Girvan's spirit is characterized by its light, sweet, and clean profile, with signature notes of vanilla, coconut, and soft fruit from extensive oak maturation. It represents the modern, efficient face of Scotch whisky production while maintaining exceptional quality standards.

Hada dram earlier, felt short and punchy, with a chicory coffee linger in the aftertaste – reminded me of something mad by Starbucks, a bit like vanilla creamer meets antifreeze? Not my thing at all, but the vanillin and coconut balls notes gave it a weird mojito twist, extremely high‑columny vibe, definitely not pure nail polish remover. 😅

Oof, first sip hit like a lemon-flavoured mojito that’s been left in the sun too long 😬 Then it turns into this weird Starbucks dessert vibe—vanilla creamers and gummy bears all mashed together Aftertaste’s got that chicory coffee bit, but with a varnishy side that lingers like a dodgy DIY job Short enough to make you wonder if it’s just pure ethanol with a lemon extract splash Not my thing at all, mate

So this one's got that proper high-column still character. Very clean, almost like pure ethanol flavoured with vanilla and lemon extracts. Reminds me a bit of Havana Club 3 years, to be honest. Plus coconut balls come through as well, which is quite fun 🥥 The aftertaste brings in this chicory coffee thing, then lemon and vanilla fudge lingers. Something mad by Starbucks vibes lol White wine notes mixing with this mojito character from this wee Girvan. It's all right, innit? Some of those alcohol notes hit quite hard, a bit antifreeze-y at first but then the Vanilla Creamer or something sweetens it up 🍦

Right so I gave this one a go last night and honestly... it's a bit of a strange one innit. First thing that hit me was this massive vanilla cream thing, like someone tipped a Starbucks vanilla latte into the glass. Properly artificial tasting, almost like pure ethanol with vanilla and lemon extract chucked in. Bit reminiscent of those lemon and vanilla fudge squares you get at seaside shops actually 😅 The nose is weirdly varnishy, not gonna lie. There's a whiff of something chemical about it - not quite nail polish remover but getting there. Kinda reminds me of Havana Club 3 years if I'm honest, that same sort of young, raw spirit vibe. Maybe even a touch of antifreeze energy which isn't ideal 😬 Got this lemon-flavoured thing going on too, and weirdly I'm picking up gummy bears and those coconut balls you get at Christmas. There's even a marshmallow quality to it if you squint hard enough. Finish is really short which is probably a blessing in disguise because there's this horrible chicory coffee bitterness lurking at the back. Felt extremely column-still, like properly stripped of any real character. Couple of sips in and I was thinking this tastes more like a failed mojito experiment than actual whisky. There's a definite white wine quality to the whole thing and honestly... not my thing at all. Wood alcohol territory if I'm being brutal. Sometimes the world whiskies category throws up proper gems but this one? Nah. Had better for sure. 🤷‍♂️

Just had a sip, and it's really not my thing at all. Started with a gummy bears sweetness, but then got all varnishy – like wood alcohol. The lemon-flavoured part is there, but it tastes like pure ethanol with vanilla and lemon extracts. Aftertaste? Chicory coffee, bitter and short. Reminds me of coconut balls gone wrong or something mad by Starbucks. Not pure nail polish remover, but close. Extremely high-columny with vanillin upfront. Overall, a bit of a miss. 😅
