First sip down – quite a journey, really. There's this beautiful sourness, almost like a sharp artisanal cider, then it gets tarry, very smoky – like tarry ropes by a bonfire. Smoked almonds come through too, mixed with a sort of grist-y, lemons-and-limes thing. 🤔 Later on, I get a weird but cool image of sundried flatfish and old paint pots, super ashy. Feels long on the tongue. Not very coastal or brine-y, more like walking through a massive raw and tarry peat bog inland. Sweet peat underneath, a hint of peppers and even peaches? Kiln lemons, maybe. Very good indeed. A proper Islay-style dram, you’d guess it’s rather to be seen towards Port Askaig side. 😊

Bit of a belter, this. Sweet peat straight away, all tarry ropes, ashes and lemony smoke, but not too seaside or briney. I get white wine, limes, pears, even a wee peachy bit under all that raw smoky stuff. There’s a funny old paint pots and fresh putty thing too, plus cinnamon, pepper and smoked almonds. Long finish, very ashy, with a lovely sour cider-ish tang. Proper comforting dram 😊
